Really Bad Idea

Our local government issued a six hour moratorium on the fireworks ban for New Year's Eve. Consequently, Anchorage sounded like a war zone from 7:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. My husband saw a dog running in a panic down a busy street. Poor thing probably escaped. My two didn't like it and the older dog refused to go outside for his evening constitutional. Staying awake until midnight? Not a problem. Actually didn't get to sleep until about 1:30. I will say the miscreants did seem to honor the time limit and the racket stopped.

So how was your New Year's Eve?

  1. Happy Official New Year!

We live out in the country but near a tribal reservation. The fireworks have been going off around here for days now. The livestock and household pets don't pay any attention to it.

I do note a change this year. Many houses around here didn't put up their outside Christmas lights like they usually do. And last night's midnight noise didn't last very long plus the noise was minimal vs past years.

I think it's a reflection of our tough times.

  2. Happy 2011! We don't really celebrate, so it was quiet. Our 4 year old Collie decided that this was the year she'd start freaking out at fireworks, for some reason... so it wasn't much fun.

Hope we all have a great new year... :-)

  3. They keep the fireworks pretty much under control here so I can't complain. I can complain about the horrible, vile rock band that held an outside concert this summer two miles away from me and it was so loud I had to stay in the house to get away from it.They also started early and went way over their time limit. Guess what, so many people complained they didn't get another permit for any more! Yay! One for the sane people! ha!
